Wall of Death

by Pompadour @ 2006-10-08 - 15:28:35

I mentioned it last night so here are the lyrics:

Wall Of Death
Written by Richard Thompson

Let me ride on the Wall Of Death one more time
Let me ride on the Wall Of Death one more time
You can waste your time on the other rides
This is the nearest to being alive
Oh let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death

You can go with the crazy people in the Crooked House
You can fly away on the Rocket or spin in the Mouse
The Tunnel Of Love might amuse you
Noah's Ark might confuse you
But let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death

On the Wall Of Death all the world is far from me
On the Wall Of Death it's the nearest to being free

Well you're going nowhere when you ride on the carousel
And maybe you're strong but what's the good of ringing a bell
The switchback will make you crazy. Beware of the bearded lady
Oh let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death

Let me ride on the Wall Of Death one more time
Oh let me ride on the Wall Of Death one more time
You can waste your time on the other rides
This is the nearest to being alive
Oh let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death
Let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death
Oh let me take my chances on the Wall Of Death

I guess many of us would like to do that, but are a little scared. Me, I am.

Yes, it is scary.
I don't alway walk the talk, do I? I daren't even smile at the man I fancy.
But when I left my job then I felt I was riding on the Wall of Death and it's working out OK. So far.

Went to the Goose Fair, Nottingham, last night and there was a Wall of Death motorbike show there. Not seen one before. Passed by it but now wish I had gone to see it.

Hope you enjoyed the Goose Fair. I come from quite near Nottingham but I've never been to the Goose Fair.
And no, I haven't seen the Wall of Death either. I should because I love that song.
